Janet Slater
Bio Information
Janet grew up on the Canadian Prairies, later moving to British Columbia, where her interest in photography began. Janet uses her photographic skills and post production technical expertise, coupled with an artistic eye, to develop her style of creating visual vignettes employing the interplay of colour and light.
Janet's work has been published in the Canadian Camera Magazine, newspapers and galleries. Her photos have won numerous medals and awards in local and national competitions and she has been honoured by CAPA with the distinction of FCAPA (Fellowship in the Canadian Association for Photographic Art).
Janet now resides on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast and uses her natural surroundings to inspire her to creatively use her camera, blending and transforming the natural palette, coalescing the ethereal essence of this beautiful landscape.
"My desire is to capture the essence of the natural coastal beauty through creative photography techniques such as intentional camera movement, multiple exposure, long exposure and digital processing."
